‘Commissioner praises the ‘values of leadership and rights’ of the BBNI King’s Badge’

Articles Published on 24 Jan 2025

What a fabulous endorsement from Chris Quinn, NI Commissioner for Children and Young People following a visit to our HQ in Newport to meet boys participating in their King's Badge residential.

We work hard to ensure that our course is fun, engaging, relevant and develops young people, offering them a chance to gain new leadership skills and make friends within the wider BBNI community.

During his visit Chris shared a little about his role and how NICCY advocates for and provides support to children and young people. He also chatted to the guys and we couldn't resist getting him involved in one of the games!

Some great ideas were birthed for how we can work together and we're excited to explore these further.

Thanks to our volunteer trainers led this weekend by Glen Miller, and the training panel led by David Penney and Stephen Cowden MCCT who design such innovative and engaging courses for our young men.

Thanks also to our President Mark Smyth for joining last night's session and to the staff team for looking after all the organisation.

Final thanks to the most important people - the young men who participate so enthusiastically.

Throughout the year around 40 volunteer leaders give their time to run these courses and really enjoy being able to work with the young men and share their leadership skills and experience.
