Recently 47 boys from companies across Northern Ireland were Fired Up with an exclusive first look at the brand-new Fire and Rescue Service Learning and Development College in Cookstown!
This is an event hosted by our President Mark Smyth who says: ‘Fired Up is gave me the opportunity to bring together two organisations that have had a significant impact on my life and my leadership, the Northern Ireland Fire Rescue Service (NIFRS) and The Northern Ireland Boys’ Brigade (BBNI). Working with my previous NIFRS colleagues, we created an experience for some of our company and senior section boys to take part in hands-on fire service training exercises and explore the impressive new training centre in Cookstown. It was a brilliant day and I really enjoyed meeting so many boys from companies throughout Northern Ireland’
A huge thank you to Area Commander Paul and his amazing team for having us— it was a full day complete with hands-on firefighting fun, competitive challenges, and a behind-the-scenes exclusive tour and a look at life as a firefighter.
We also got a chance to listen to a talk from the Lord-Lieutenant of Tyrone, who shared with the boys about King’s Badge and what a day in his life looks like.
Check out the highlights and see why it was a day to remember!
