Sponsored walks, coffee mornings, carol services, big breakfasts and Christmas jumper nights were just some of the activities that children and young people in Boys’ Brigade companies across NI got involved in to raise money for Cancer Fund for Children. Over the course of the last year in excess of £21,000 was raised for this incredible charity.
Lisa Keys, Chief Officer of BBNI said:
“From the day we launched our charity partnership with Cancer Fund for Children, our Boys’ Brigade companies demonstrated their support with amazing fund-raising initiatives. From filling Pringle tubs with money, to bakes offs, colouring competitions and sponsored events, the support from our children, young people and leaders was incredible. Sadly cancer touches so many lives in NI and we are delighted to be able to give Cancer Fund for Children over £21,000 which we know will support young people affected by cancer.”
CEO of Cancer Fund for Children Phil Alexander said:
“As our year-long charity partnership comes to an end, I wanted to extend my thanks to every company, captain, leader, and young person who worked so hard and helped raise an incredible amount of money.
Every Christmas Jumper Day, coffee morning or sponsored walk will help us be there for children and young people, enabling our Cancer Support Specialists to provide services at home, in the hospital and in the community and helping to run our therapeutic short break centre, Daisy Lodge.
It truly is wonderful to see children and young people from Boys’ Brigades across Northern Ireland embrace their fundraising with passion and enthusiasm, all to help other young people. Thank you!”
BBNI would like to thank everyone who contributed to the fundraising efforts over the last year.
