Time with God – David Cleland

1 Corinthians 3:6-7

“I planted, Apollos watered, but God gave the growth. So neither he who plants nor he who waters is anything, but only God who gives the growth”

There are so many demands and pressures on people today.

Even from a very young age there is school, clubs, homework, exams, drama, music, sports and the list could go on for a while…..it’s exhausting!

Don’t get me wrong, I love being able to have adventures, try new challenges and enjoy the fullness of life and all the joy that it brings.

The pace and busyness of life means we often run on empty and move quickly from one task to the next.

When this happens we often rely on our own strength and whatever reserves we have, just to make it through the day.

I often run on my own strength in work, at home and also at BB. This can work for a short while, but it frequently ends in disaster.

In our own Company we have a super team of Officers who are committed and work hard at preparing and running an enjoyable and varied programme for our boys.

We want our boys to have the best time of their week at BB!

But we always need to circle back to the first part of our object of Advancing Christ’s Kingdom among boys….

So rather than creating a perfect programme based solely on our own efforts we need to pray that God would move through opening His Word and that the Holy Spirit would move in the hearts and minds of boys, that we would see an increase to keep us advancing.

So let’s be investing and working hard to do all we can, not forgetting to trust God for all that He will do. After all as the Apostle Paul says, He is the one who gives the growth!
