Time with God – Jonathan Holmes

Matthew 19:26 says, “But Jesus looked at them and said, ‘With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.’”
Back in September, I took part in a 24/7 prayer week at church. This is one of the highlights of the church year for me. It provides a space where I can rest and feel refreshed in God’s presence. Throughout the various prayer stations, a recurring theme emerged: there is so much to be thankful for, but there is also much work still to do and much more for which we need to seek God’s guidance and help. This experience was a reminder that, while we may often feel overwhelmed by the challenges ahead, we are called to lean on God for strength and direction in every situation.

As I moved through the stations, I came across a Bible that someone else had left open, and it happened to be turned to this powerful verse in Matthew 19:26: “But Jesus looked at them and said, ‘With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.’” At that moment, I was struck by the realisation of how often I pray asking for God’s help yet still wrestle with doubts—doubts that perhaps He won’t answer or that my situation may be too difficult. Why is that? In Scripture, we see countless examples of God performing miracles, answering prayers, and transforming lives. He assures us through His Word that nothing is beyond His power. This verse reminded me that, in both the big challenges and the small ones, we can trust fully that God is able and willing to work on our behalf.

As leaders working with young people in your BB companies, I want to encourage you to hold on to this promise. The work you’re doing—mentoring, guiding, and inspiring young people—can be demanding and sometimes feel like an uphill journey. But we are not called to do it alone. Pray boldly and confidently, trusting that God will answer any prayer you bring to Him, in His timing and His way. Nothing is impossible with Him, and He will equip you with everything you need to fulfil this mission.

Let’s make it our bold and confident prayer that God will lead us into this busy season of BB as we seek to raise generations of Christ-like men. Let us approach everything with the knowledge that God is working through all we do and that nothing is impossible with Him as we seek to advance His Kingdom.
