After Deborah’s blog, it got me thinking, “Will MY anchor hold in the storms of life. When I did my training for the BBNI Leadership, I was in a team of fellow trainees, (two of whom are still a great source of encouragement to me). We were given a task to write down ALL the church organisations and rate them in order of importance. As a team we found we couldn’t figure out what was more important for children and young people in the life of the church. Was it Church, GB, BB, GFS, etc? We concluded that everything had equal importance, for one simple reason – they all should be proclaiming Christ is King of kings and Salvation is through Christ Alone. Christ doesn’t need us, but He has called us! The Chinese Proverb says, “It takes a village to raise a child”. Fellow Officers, you are in that village of the children and young people, that you faithfully dedicate your time to. We also need to faithfully pray for, and teach them in the grace and mercy of the Lord!
This is quite a task! We are in dark days and our children and young people face a lot of evil activity in this world. The Devil is seeking to attract children and young people into seemingly “harmless”, but evil activities intending to steal them away from Christ.
Paul in the Bible refers to the “the Body of the Christ”. We are part of this Body. We are called to proclaim clearly, boldly and tangibly the Gospel in our words and deeds. This is not only quite daunting, since we are all sinners and find sin very easy to commit. I, however, personally have found that any good that I think, say or do, comes from Christ alone. He is my Rock, Fortress, my Saviour and my Friend. I could say, “Yet! Not I but Christ in me”.
I need the Power of the Holy Spirit in me, I have a chronic illness however, I made a promise to the Lord that I would serve Him with the grace & mercy He provided. This has made me realise, I am also needing my friends & fellow Officers (both in action and retired) to faithfully pray for me and sometimes offer me (what I call) “Wisdom Nuggets” along the way.
We, as BBNI leaders, need to be faithfully upholding each other and BB in our daily prayers. We face a task that is unfinished and with the help of the Holy Spirit, we can faithfully serve our Gracious Redeemer. To serve the Lord, we need to stand together, our chaplains, church, family and friends faithfully praying. We also need to humble ourselves as Christ calls us to Advance His Kingdom among boys.
In Conclusion, will my anchor hold in the storms of life? Yes, because it is attached to “the Rock that is higher than I”. Humbly serving alongside a great team whom God has planted in my life. Fervently seeking to know my Saviour more fully each day by spending time with Him in His creation, His Word and my daily walks with Him. Will your anchor hold? What are you doing to seek to know your Saviour more? Who has God faithfully placed in your life? Let’s stand grounded in the Saviour’s love.
