Expedition and Outdoor Leadership
Expedition & Outdoor Leadership (Level 1 & Level 2)
This training course is delivered in partnership with Girls’ Brigade Northen Ireland (GBNI). This is delivered over two weekends – a training weekend in the spring and an assessment weekend in the autumn. Each of the levels are required for different levels of expedition.
Level 1 - Lowland or Open Country.
This course is only available to registered BBNI & GBNI leaders aged 18 or over who have completed BBNI Leader Training (YLT Prior to 2023) or GBNI Officer/Sub-Officer Training. For BBNI Leaders BBNI Safeguarding Training must be completed.
Level 2 - Mountainous or Wild Country.
This course is only available to registered BBNI & GBNI leaders who have completed BBNI/GBNI Expedition & Outdoor Leadership Level 1. For BBNI Leaders BBNI Safeguarding Training must be completed.
Cost: £75
Attendance at the training weekend and assessment weekend is required to complete this qualification.

Venues: BBNI Newport Centre, 117 Culcavy Road, Hillsborough, BT26 6HH.
Shepherds Lodge
Commences: 7.30pm sharp on Fri 17th April At Newport (please note you cannot arrive late to join)
Concludes: 2.00pm on Sun 19th April at Shepherds Lodge (please note you cannot leave early)
Assessment Weekend
25th – 27th September 2026
Venues: BBNI Newport Centre, 117 Culcavy Road, Hillsborough, BT26 6HH.
Rocky Mountian Centre
Commences: 7.30pm sharp on Fri 25th September At Newport (please note you cannot arrive late to join)
Concludes: 2.00pm on Sun 27th September at Rocky Mountian Centre (please note you cannot leave early)
